Emma Laidlaw-Height BA (Hons) (soprano) graduated from Cardiff University in 2008 with a joint degree in Music and History. During her graduation, she received the prestigious Sir Geraint Evans Award for Singers for the highest marked First Class final year recital under the tuition of WNO soprano Helen Field.
Emma is a singing teacher in the South Wales area and has taught at many theatre schools and children’s organisations throughout the UK. She has a commitment to understanding her pupils, tailoring lessons to individual pupil needs and encouraging confidence and enthusiasm through singing. She has a wide repertoire under her belt and is a confident soloist in many genres, be it classical, pop, motown or jazz.
Emma has much choral experience under her belt and has sung with many choirs including the Cardiff University Chorus, Purcell Singers and the BBC National Chorus of Wales. She has performed at St David’s Hall Cardiff, Birmingham Symphony Hall and at the BBC Proms at the Albert Hall.
Emma was very happy to accept the post as Musical Director of Cardiff Male Choir in September 2010, and has enjoyed every moment with ‘the boys’ for the last 3 years. The choir sang at Emma’s wedding in August 2013.
Emma is also a Saxophonist and enjoys playing with the saxophone quartet Saxophony who appeared at Cardiff Male Choir’s Annual Christmas Concert in 2011.
