Noah’s Ark Charity

The Choir was honoured and delighted to sing at the Lord Mayor’s Spring Ball in aid of the Noah’s Ark charity. The guests, including guest of honour Dame Shirley Bassey, entered the City Hall to a rousing welcome from the Choir.
Lucy Jones from the Noah’s Ark charity wrote afterwards: “Thank you so much for the part you played at the Spring Ball on the 17th May. We are so grateful for your involvement. We have had fantastic feedback on the night and there were lovely comments about the choir.

We have been very busy calculating all of the numbers and we are delighted to let you know that the event raised a fantastic £35,000 profit which is a brilliant boost to kick off our next big campaign to support among others, children in Wales with severe mental health problems and those in neuro-rehabilitation.”

30 Challenges

On the 29th May, the Choir had a visit from a very special lady, Bethan Wynne Phillips. Bethan is accompanist for the Amman Valley Male Voice Choir, and she celebrates her 30th birthday in 2020 (the same year that the Amman choir itself turns 30), and as part of the celebrations Bethan has chosen to undertake 30 various fund-raising activities on behalf of the Amman choir’s nominated charity, MIND Cymru.

One of the challenges is to obtain 30 ‘selfies’ with 30 South Wales Male Voice Choirs, and CMC was delighted to help Bethan achieve her goal.

To get further details of Bethan’s 30 challenges and to donate to her charity, visit: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/bethanwynnephillips30/FB_IMG_1559398540078

Penllyn Village Hall

For the third consecutive year the choir helped the villagers of Penllyn to celebrate St David’s Day. In doing so the choir has enabled the village to purchase not just one but two defibrillators. A good time was had by all and after the event we retired to the Red Fox for an informal sing-song.

Wales Defeated England

On Saturday, 23rd February, the choir entertained guests of Legends Hospitality in the Radisson Blu Hotel. Former Welsh internationals J.P.R. Williams, Robert Jones and J.J. Williams were there to speak to Legends’ guests and the choir was in full voice to put everyone in good spirits before going off to watch the game.

The choir looks forward to returning to the Radisson Blu on Saturday, 16th March to entertain guests of Legends Hospitality prior to the Wales v Ireland match.

Cardiff Male Choir Weddings

Cardiff Male Choir Weddings

Cardiff Male Choir are honoured to perform at weddings across South Wales (and beyond) every year, and we’ve been blessed as a choir to add that special touch to so many couples wedding days.

In December 2017, Cardiff Male Choir sang at Jonathan and Lucy’s 1940s inspired wedding which has recently been featured on the Love My Dress website.

“We had the magnificent Cardiff Male Choir to accompany the hymnal singing at the church and to entertain our guests back at Rosedew. Since our friends Beck and Rhys got married and we witnessed their incredible choir, we knew it was something that would be pretty high on our lists of wants. CMC did not disappoint. They were so welcoming at the rehearsal we attended and looked and sounded amazing on the big day. Personal highlights were the Eli Jenkins Prayer, It’s Not Unusual by Tom Jones and seeing Wayne cry to Band of Brothers.”

You can read the whole article here

The choir have now closed their books for 2018, but we are taking wedding bookings for 2019 and beyond. Why not get in touch if you’d like to book the choir for your special day? Here are some more snaps from weddings over the last year.

Cardiff Male Choir host Koninklijk Kerkraads Mannenkoor

Both choirs enjoyed a very successful May Day concert on Tuesday the 1st of May as part of Koninklijk Kerkraads Mannenkoor’s tour to Wales. Both choirs sang a variety of opera choruses, classical items by Karl Jenkins, popular ballads including ‘The Rose’ and ‘You Raise Me Up’ as well as traditional items from both Wales and The Netherlands.

We were honoured to have both the Mayor of Kerade and the Lord Mayor of Cardiff, Cllr Bob Derbyshire with us for the evening.

Open Rehearsal

Phil Redmond

It is with deepest sadness that we announce that Phil Redmond, part of our Tenor 2 section and the choir’s Event Secretary passed away at Christmas. It was a huge shock to all of us here at Cardiff Male Choir. Phil was a wonderful member of our choir, loved and well respected by all of us. His enthusiasm for the choir knew no bounds and he drove the choir forward immensely as our Events Secretary. Phil will be hugely missed and the choir wish to send their sympathies and best wishes to Marilyn, Phil’s wife, and all of their family.

Phil’s funeral will be held at Glenwood Church, Circle Way West, Llanedeyrn, Cardiff CF23 6UW on Saturday the 13th of January at 10:15am.
